Connie grew up in the gold county of Nevada County and at 19, worked at a local title insurance company as a foreclosure secretary where her major source of information was contained in he minimal law library displayed in the Manager’s office.
Before computers, Connie filled in at the typing pool, and learned how to cut and paste property descriptions with perfection and proof retyped descriptions. She cross-trained to aid the bookkeeper, trained as a title examiner and in customer service, and learned how to “post” incoming daily recordings into numerous huge leather bound log books.
Living in the gold country opened doors to working with mining claims, all types of easements, lot line adjustments and lot splits. Connie took a surveying class at night to better understand the documents she worked with daily. There were numerous subdivisions created during the influx of inhabitants in the 70's and 80's.
Ten years, marriage and two children later, in 1983 Connie learned about the paralegal profession, and with 2 years of college, she enrolled in the Chico State Paralegal program with a desire of working with a real estate attorney. As fate would have it, she spent the next 37 years doing family law and joyfully accepted the appointment of county small claims advisor for 10 years during the 90's. She continued doing deeds and in 2018, she stopped all family law and became full circle focusing on deeds. She has since added Trust Administration to her list of law to conquer as it relates to title work.
Connie was a member of CAIP before CALDA and has been on and off the board several times over the years. Her attitude is that the “elders” have become the link to keeping this profession alive in terms of sharing our information and experience, to help you all become the best at what you do.
