Working in legal services for over 40 years, mostly in civil litigation, business-to-business disputes including trials. Over the years, my supervising attorneys gave me the nickname “Factyer”—as in, captain of the facts. Now, I’m a name change nerd and have helped more than 20,000 people with legal name change.
For 30 years, and continuing still, I’ve also served as a lay-arbitrator, both for the Los Angeles County Bar Association (fee disputes between lawyers and their clients) and the Better Business Bureau. I’ve seen a lot of legal processes up close and from a lot of different angles.
One of my supervising attorneys had me help him get a legal name change in 2009, and I noticed that there were no “losers” in name change like there were in civil litigation. My wife Barbara, who is also a veteran in legal services, both registered as LDAs in Los Angeles County and founded EZ Name Change in 2012. We’ve been at it ever since —and we love it.
