    Richard Lubetzky

Richard Lubetzky is an attorney in private practice, and has served as a member of CALDA's Advisory Council. Previously, Mr. Lubetzky served on the Board of Directors of Consumer Advocates For Legal Justice (CALJUSTICE), which worked to help reform the State Bar's disciplinary process to make it more responsive to consumer complaints. Additionally, Mr. Lubetzky represented CALDA in the drafting of Business And Professions Code Section 6400, et seq., which regulates the services that Legal Document Assistants (LDAs) now provide.

Mr. Lubetzky is a recognized expert in the unauthorized practice of law (UPL), and the law governing the practice of LDAs. He specializes in helping LDAs comply with the law, and in defending LDAs in UPL cases brought by prosecutors, bankruptcy court trustees, private attorneys, former customers and the State Bar.

Among his accomplishments, Mr. Lubetzky has handled several high-profile cases in which he successfully represented a former LDA who was denied admission to the bar for the alleged unauthorized practice of law, and a group of LDAs and immigration consultants who were sued by private attorneys for the alleged unauthorized practice of law under the state's Unlawful Business Practices statute.

Mr. Lubetzky received an A.B. in Political Science from UCLA, and a J.D. from the University of West Los Angeles School of Law.
