Member Biographical Information
I am founder of Teuninck & DeBishoppe Inc. Legal Document Assistance in San Jose California and have been a registered Legal Document Assistant since 2011 in Santa Clara County. I am also a Notary Public since 2002 and President of the Escrow Association of Santa Clara and on the board of directors of California Escrow Association.
I am currently serving as President of CALDA 2019 - present.
I strongly believe that CALDA needs to push forward in enhancing California Business Professions Code 6400 to expand our ability to serve our customers. We need to be standing with the State Bar in improving access to justice and taking the lead in that regard and making ourselves known more aggressively. But also move forward cautiously regarding the Paraprofessional program being implemented by the Bar.
We should be implementing a more specific training and certification program with in CALDA in particular focusing first on UPL, 6400 and ethics, then specific areas of expertise, I.e. probate, family law, real estate, etc.
We need to promote CALDA in this regard and make the legal and government services community aware if this and our value to them – court clerks, county clerks, assessors, real estate associations, law firms, the State Bar, etc
